Wake up here! It's still a dream!

 

Daniel had lost his heart to Norway years ago. His passion for birds and untouched nature showed him the way. His love for this country never left him. When he got to know me - many years later - he almost immediately took me to Paradise in the High North. I immediately caught the bug. Here I pictured us building a warm nest.

 

Five years ago we took the big step. We left our lives in Belgium behind and - together with our two sons Thor and Tuur - embarked on a new adventure in beautiful Lierne. 

 

Lierne is heaven on earth. A small mountain town close to the Swedish border, which makes an instant impression. A village with 1,000 lakes, beautiful mountains and a larger population of wild animals than inhabitants. If you put on your hiking boots here, you will really find peace and quiet and become one with the nature that surrounds you. You rarely encounter other hikers along the way. Built paths are the exception. Through the "allemannsrett" you can go wherever you want and literally look for unpaved paths. This also makes Lierne a dream spot for birdwatchers.

 

Last year our family expanded. Little Arne was born. The house where we used to live became too small. And another miracle happened: we got the unique opportunity to buy an old farm on a nice piece of land. Even though the farm isn't operational yet: it's a nice start of yet another dream.

 

Every day we have to squeeze ourselves for a moment to believe that this really is our new life. For how wonderful it is to be able to wake up every day in this beautiful landscape, overlooking the lake, and to be able to see the grouse from the dining table.
